On Earth as It Is in Heaven

“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” — We pray this. Do we take it seriously? What does it mean? What do we actually believe about God’s will being done on earth?

Ask many Christians if the world is getting better or worse today, and they’ll say “worse.” In many ways they are right. Some would even say it will keep getting worse until Jesus returns to set things right. Is that God’s plan for the world? That Christians would be a dwindling remnant? Perhaps.

Christianity and Government: An Interview with Jarrod Manning

I recently interviewed Jarrod Manning, the Associate Pastor of Ministry at Grace Bible Church of Brazosport.

Jarrod studied at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and I found common ground in our understanding of Christianity and government.

Was Thomas’s Doubt Reasonable?

“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Was he right to say this? Thomas didn’t tell us his epistemology. We don’t even know his attitude as he said those words. I suspect he was trembling, not indignant.

Was Thomas being reasonable? It seems ambiguous.

20 Christian Bloggers on “Why Writing Matters”

It takes a lot to create a blog or website, but Christian leaders know it’s worth it.

I’m really excited about today’s post: this week 20 of my favorite Christian bloggers emailed me their reasons for writing! Some have a large following; others are just getting started. Combined, they reach over 200,000 email subscribers and the same number of twitter followers. These men and women inspire me with their high-quality content and their heart for spreading Christ’s message.

I know you’ll benefit from what they have to say. As you read through their words, envision what you too could do with an online platform.

O Bless Me Now, My Savior

Does God want us to be motivated by his rewards?

For a very long time people have been singing of their great reward. And not only Americans.
The Hebrew book of worship, the Psalms, is prefaced by the following:

Blessed is the man
 who walks not
In the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stands in the way of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
 planted by streams of water
That yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
-Ps 1:1-3

Here are 50 of my favorite lines of blessing in the hymns.
