Social Justice and Scripture: Untie the Knot Pt.10

The United States has been exceptional as the country founded upon a moral idea: individual rights.

The founding fathers recognized man’s rights as inalienable. Rights are discovered, not granted.

Certainty, Judgment, and Planned Parenthood

Let the little children come to me,” said Jesus (Matthew 19:14). But see what happens to a nation when it ignores the heart of God.

Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
And shed innocent blood,
Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan:
And the land was polluted with blood.
Thus were they defiled with their own works,
And went a whoring with their own inventions.
Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people,
Insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance (Psalm 106:37-40).

Platform-Building Pt. 1: Leaders Should Be Writers

Christian leaders have this in common: we work to reshape society. It’s why we invest in our families. It’s why we befriend people. It’s why we work in our churches, and it’s why many of us write.

In all areas of life this much is true: ideas matter.

On Earth as It Is in Heaven

“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” — We pray this. Do we take it seriously? What does it mean? What do we actually believe about God’s will being done on earth?

Ask many Christians if the world is getting better or worse today, and they’ll say “worse.” In many ways they are right. Some would even say it will keep getting worse until Jesus returns to set things right. Is that God’s plan for the world? That Christians would be a dwindling remnant? Perhaps.

Communication Style

This blog is called If We Will Live. The tone is one of optimism and sincerity—for if we will live, we must choose to identify the path.

A few words on my style and intentions: I believe the words I write. I take a tone of certainty that comes from having logically integrated my own views into a coherent, reality-based whole. Since my purpose involves changing and teaching the reader, I plan to write on challenging and controversial topics. Guaranteed, my ideas will lead to disagreements.
