How To Give a Perfect Answer Pt. 2

“Don’t Make It Personal”

Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense,
But a man of understanding remains silent.”
-Proverbs 11:12

In the last post we looked at the question: “How can I be more mature when I talk to people online?”

The answer in summary—Don’t make it personal, painful, demanding, or rude. Today the first point—Don’t make it personal.

Forums are for critiquing thoughts, not thinkers.

Refugees and Reporting

Like me, you’re probably wanting to know what’s happening with the Syrian refugees.

These are people. Families. If you’ve seen a picture of a three-year-old Syrian boy dead, you know that something absolutely must be done. We should be ashamed if our hearts were not big enough to help these human beings—these image-bearers of God Himself—in their time of distress.

So then, what are the facts? What’s the right thing to do? Is President Obama’s plan to admit 10,000 Syrian refugees moral?

Christianity and Government: An Interview with Jarrod Manning

I recently interviewed Jarrod Manning, the Associate Pastor of Ministry at Grace Bible Church of Brazosport.

Jarrod studied at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and I found common ground in our understanding of Christianity and government.

Communication Style

This blog is called If We Will Live. The tone is one of optimism and sincerity—for if we will live, we must choose to identify the path.

A few words on my style and intentions: I believe the words I write. I take a tone of certainty that comes from having logically integrated my own views into a coherent, reality-based whole. Since my purpose involves changing and teaching the reader, I plan to write on challenging and controversial topics. Guaranteed, my ideas will lead to disagreements.

When the mayor of a large American city so violates religious liberty, all moral men must speak out. They must speak in the broadest realm possible to them.
